Ariana Madix Returning to Broadway’s Chicago After Sold-Out Run as Roxie Hart (Exclusive)

The ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star will tread the boards in the Tony-winning revival from Aug. 1 through Aug. 27

Ariana Madix is coming back to Broadway!

The Vanderpump Rules star and Love Island USA host is returning to the Tony-winning revival of Chicago this summer, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal, to once again take on the role of murderous adulterer Roxie Hart in the iconic Kander and Ebb musical.

Fans can see Madix, 38, back on the boards from Thursday, Aug. 1 through Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City. The dates come as Vanderpump Rules goes on a planned production hiatus ahead of its upcoming 12th season.

This will be the second time Madix has performed in Chicago. Her initial 10-week run in Broadway’s longest-running American musical — which began in January and wrapped in April — was a sold-out smash success, breaking box office records during four different weeks.

It also made the theater into a nightly BravoCon of sorts, with Madix’s fans mixing with Bravolebrities like Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, Emerson Collins, Brittany Cartwright and Carl Radke in the audience.

PEOPLE was among those in the crowd back in January for Madix’s first performance in Chicago.

Her debut closed the loop on a goal Madix had long been working towards. Before reality TV, she studied musical theater at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla, and moved to New York City after graduation with hopes to land a role in a Broadway show. Between auditions, she learned to bartend — a skill that came in handy when she relocated to Los Angeles to build a résumé in Hollywood and got a job at a bar called SUR [“Sexy Unique Restaurant”], which would become the setting of Lisa Vanderpump’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff, Vanderpump Rules.

A decade of drama on Bravo and one “Scandoval” later, Madix found herself right back where she started — this time with the Broadway contract she once coveted.

“To say this is a fulfillment of a lifelong dream would be an understatement,” she told PEOPLE during a Chicago press call in January at 48 Lounge in New York City. “This is quite literally everything to me. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. And to be here now, having this full-circle moment … I feel so beyond grateful.”

Chicago — about two murderous women who use their criminal notoriety to find fame in the Vaudeville circuit — originally premiered in 1975, with legendary leading ladies Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera playing Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.

The show was a flop, but received a new appreciation when it was revived in 1996, this time with Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth in the two roles. It went on to win six Tony Awards including best revival, and is Broadway’s longest-running American musical in history.

Originally choreographed by the great Bob Fosse, his former flame and longtime muse Reinking restored his moves for this production. The score — with music John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb — remained in tact, and includes some of the most beloved songs in the musical theater cannon like “All That Jazz,” “The Cell-Block Tango,” “When You’re Good to Momma” and “Razzle Dazzle.”
