The Tennessee Titans have added DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley over the past two offseasons, but might not be done surrounding second-year quarterback Will Levis with elite pass-catchers.
While the Titans could use significant help along the offensive line and Chigoziem Okonkwo a bit of an unknown at tight end, at least one scout believes Tennessee is about to drop another elite receiver into Levis’ supporting cast.
NFC Scout Makes Surprising Tennessee Titans NFL Draft Prediction
ESPN’s Matt Miller spoke to scouts from across the league and petitioned them to make a selection for a team picking in the top-10 of the 2024 NFL Draft, and the scout tasked with making Tennessee’s selection tabbed University of Washington vertical threat, wide receiver Rome Odunze.
“I wanted a tackle here, but with Alt off the board, it’s too rich to reach for [Penn State’s Olumuyiwa] Fashanu, and drafting a right tackle doesn’t help them. So this is a little best player available but also a need.”
It’s debatable whether Odunze would fill a need for the Titans, after Treylon Burks has caught 84 passes through his first two seasons for 665 yards and one touchdown.
But, it’s easy to envision Odunze, Ridley, and Hopkins developing into one of the most explosive and prolific wide receiver trios in the NFL.
“There’s nothing not to like [about Odunze.],” an NFC Scouting Director told me recently. “Rome’s very competitive has great hands with a very large catch radius. He consistently competes and wins in traffic. Gets separation on a consistent basis, is a very good route runner, and is excellent after the catch.”
Last season, Odunze caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards with 13 touchdowns, while averaging a whopping 17.8 yards per reception. Odunze’s vertical speed would certainly be an ideal weapon to maximize Levis’ arm strength and propensity for pushing the ball deep downfield.
