Staff Picks: Which uniforms should the Saints use more often?

Having the opportunity to design a new helmet and tweak the unpopular black lids introduced in 2022 is big. So our staff writers picked which uniforms we’d like to see the Saints wear more often, and whether a new helmet design or two could factor into those plans:

I would love to see the Saints pair their black helmets with the black jersey and black pants. Let’s be honest, it’s the uniform we were all looking forward to when the Saints first unveiled the alternate helmet. That alternate helmet has unfortunately been solely paired with the Color Rush jerseys. That combination hasn’t been well received, but I can guarantee a fully blacked out uniform from the Saints would garner an opposite reaction. — Darrion Gray

I agree with Darrion, an al- black uniform combination would not only be appealing to the eye but I think it potentially brings a certain level of grittiness to the team. Kind of like when the team promoted the black Air Force Ones in their season finale. A high-energy game where they wanted to be the most physical team on the field. Having a uniform that could provide a boost in this way would not only benefit the players but also bring a ton of excitement to the fan base. — Luke Loffredo

I would personally like to see a white helmet added to the rotation with gold and black accents. The Saints have their white Color Rush jerseys, white jersey with black pants, and white jersey with gold pants, and yet do not have a white themed helmet with it to match the set. It’s always bothered me seeing the new alternate black helmet with the white jerseys as the other two have said, so let’s fill out the set. — Jeremy Trottier

I personally would like to see the Saints wear the Color Rush alternates more. However, I’m not a fan of the black helmet and would love to see a white helmet design. It would give it such a sleek look. — Jonnny Camer

My personal favorite uniform combo that I think should get more run is the black top and gold pants combo. It’s an alternate that I feel does not get enough run in the rotation. I would love to see it more than just once a year like it feels like it gets used right now. — Dylan Sanders

I like the Saints’ throwback uniforms, based off the original threads worn by teams back in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. The gold stripes on the sleeves and black jerseys make for a very clean look. Redesigning the black helmets to better match these uniforms, using the team’s original logo while drawing inspiration from the 1969 preseason’s special black helmets, would be my preference. Dust them off more often! — John Sigler

I would also like to see the color rush uniforms brought out more often. Changing up helmet colors could also be something as was mentioned could also bring a different element. — Crissy Froyd
