The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL in Jalen Hurts. Over his first four campaigns, Hurts led the Eagles to a Super Bowl berth, was named to two Pro Bowls and was named Second-team All-Pro in 2022. He also came in second in MVP voting that same season. Not a bad start for the 25-year old signal-caller.

Hurts is far from the only great quarterback in the league, though, and the Eagles will have to face off against several of the others during the upcoming 2024 campaign, including these three guys.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
At some point next season, the Eagles will be tasked with trying to slow Lamar Jackson. In addition to his two MVP Awards, Jackson is also a two-time First Team All-Pro, a three-time Pro Bowler, and he led the league in passing touchdowns in 2019. He’s also one of the most dynamic runners at the QB spot that the league has ever seen.

In six seasons, Jackson has compiled 5,258 rushing yards (a total that includes two separate 1,000-plus yard seasons) and 29 rushing touchdowns. Those are running back numbers. Jackson’s ability to both run and throw at an elite level make him a nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators to prepare for, and a big part of the reason why the Ravens have made the playoffs in five of his seasons under center.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford has been a productive player in the NFL for a long time, and at 36, he’s still pretty darn good. He was named to the Pro Bowl last season for the second time in his career as he led the Rams to a postseason appearance. Stafford also memorably led the Rams to a victory in Super Bowl LVI, out-dueling another quarterback on this list in the process. The Eagles will travel to L.A. to face the Rams in 2024, and limiting Stafford’s effectiveness will be central to success for Philly.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals selected Joe Burrow with the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft (the same year that Philadelphia selected Hurts in the second round), and he has lived up to expectations thus far. Over his first four seasons, Burrow led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance, was named to a Pro Bowl and was also named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2021. His addition immediately catapuled Cincinnati into contender status.

The only knock against Burrow has been durability, as he’s been limited to just 10 games in two of his four seasons. However, he projects to be healthy next season coming off of wrist surgery, so Philadelphia’s defense will have to try to figure out a way to limit his production when the two teams meet in 2024.
