Vikings get to keep 7th-round pick they got in Josh Dobbs trade

The Vikings will retain the seventh-round draft pick they received as part of the Josh Dobbs trade.

Minnesota sent a sixth-round pick to the Cardinals and received Josh Dobbs and a conditional seventh-round pick in exchange. The condition for that seventh-round pick to revert back to Arizona was that Dobbs needed to play 55% of the snaps once landing in Minnesota.

Dobbs was certainly on pace to eclipse that benchmark after taking over for Jaren Hall on the second drive of his first game in Minnesota, just three days after arriving.

After leading a miraculous win over Atlanta, Dobbs was handed the keys to the Vikings offense. He proceeded to light up New Orleans in a 27-19 Week 10 win but then lost the following two games. Given one final opportunity the week after the bye, Dobbs struggled to get the offense going in Las Vegas before being pulled for Nick Mullens.

Mullens was named starter for the Week 14 game against Detroit while Dobbs was relegated to third-string duty, never seeing the field again for Minnesota.

In all, Dobbs played 319 of a possible 643 snaps while in Minnesota for a total of 49.6% of snaps, meaning the Vikings will have a seventh-round draft pick in April. Minnesota currently has a total of nine picks in the upcoming draft.
