There is no assurance where exactly Russell Wilson will be suiting up for when Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season comes around. The expectation still is that the Denver Broncos will part ways with the Super Bowl-winning quarterback soon, leaving his future in a bit of a haze. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, however, believes that should Wilson get cut, it won’t be long before he finds a new QB1 job (h/t Bleacher Report).
During an appearance Saturday on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler spoke about Wilson’s prospects, saying: “I’ve talked to several teams who still believe that he’s a full-time starter. There’s a job for him somewhere.”
Wilson’s marriage with the Denver Broncos hasn’t been going smoothly. It also did not start the right way, as the Broncos crashed and burned in his first season with the team, with Denver going just 5-12 in 2022. The Broncos took a step forward in 2023 with an 8-9 record, but that did little to improve the outlook of Wilson in Mile High City. He was even benched late in the campaign.
Perhaps Denver isn’t just the right football environment for Wilson, who got signed to a gargantuan $242.5 million contract extension by the Broncos in 2022 after they acquired him via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.
Will Russell Wilson End Up Running It Back With The Denver Broncos?
Well, anything is possible. There is still a chance that after all the rumors of his looming departure from the Broncos, Wilson and Denver will smoothen things out and continue holding on to each other, at least for one more season.
