The Pittsburgh Steelers have a potentially very interesting offseason up ahead in 2024.

Pittsburgh Steelers Release Former Pro Bowl Receiver In $10 Million Cap Saving Move

A New Dawn, A New (Winning?) Season For Steelers

Although they were easily booted out of the playoffs by the Buffalo Bills, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot to be optimistic about come the 2024 season – they still have one of the top rosters in the NFL that has but just one discernible weakness: quarterback.

Amidst reports that there could be a new signal caller in town for the Steelers, the Steelers are more imminently focusing on another crucial offensive position: wideout.

Specifically, the status of one of their starting receivers in 2024, per Field Yates.

Why Did The Pittsburgh Steelers Release Allen Robinson?

After back to back to back sub par years for the Chicago Bears, LA Rams and the Steelers, it seems as if Robinson’s best years are well and truly behind him at the age of 30.

Even though he has a strong pedigree and produced excellent years in both Jacksonville and Chicago, it is evident that the Steelers are not getting the kind of performances from a player that was set to count for nearly $12 million against the salary cap in 2024.

Given that he failed to produce even 300 receiving yards, this move makes a lot of sense for Pittsburgh, who have George Pickens and Diontae Johnson as their top receiving duo on their roster, alongside emerging speedster, Calvin Austin III.

Let’s see if Allen Robinson finds a landing spot and another chance to revive a career that once seemed on the path to heading to the illustrious; especially considering that at 30, Robinson may well not be done just yet.
