The 2024 NFL offseason has already been a busy one for the Philadelphia Eagles. They have revamped the coaching staff under head coach Nick Sirianni, as they are set to have different offensive and defensive coordinators for the third straight season.
While the coaching staff has undergone some major changes, the same is expected of the roster sooner than later as well. In 2023, the Eagles lost a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball as other teams poached players in free agency.
There are a few high-profile defensive players that will be hitting the market again this year. Star defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and edge rusher Brandon Graham are both set to be free agents and it will be interesting to see how the team handles those long-time veterans.
Offensively, Philadelphia could see a lot of changes. The biggest decision will come from Jason Kelce, as there have been rumors about him heading off into retirement. While no decision has been officially made, once those rumors start swirling, walking away usually isn’t far behind.
Running back D’Andre Swift is also hitting free agency after a stellar season. The running back market has been dormant in recent years, so it will be interesting to see what kind of contract he can get after putting together the best season of his career.
Julio Jones, Marcus Mariota, Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheus are all set to hit the free agent market as well. That is a lot of depth at wide receiver potentially walking out the door, as it was already a position of need in the eyes of some. That doesn’t even include the potential divorce with A.J. Brown that has been rumored.
Roughly $59 million worth of salary is hitting free agency this offseason for the Eagles. Retaining everyone will be virtually impossible, as they will have some difficult decisions to make on who to bring back and who to allow to leave in free agency.
