The Philadelphia Eagles released a statement following Wednesday’s tragic shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade in downtown Kansas City that left one person dead and 22 other injured, including eight children.
“Our hearts ache for the victims, their families, the people of Kansas City, and the Chiefs organization,” the statement reads. “We are grateful for law enforcement, first responders and all who acted swiftly in the face of danger to support others.”
Stephanie Meyer, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, said that none of the injured children are in critical condition and all are expected to make a full recovery.
While a tragedy is never easy to handle, hearing positive news like this is a huge sigh of relief when considering things could have been much worse.
The Chiefs also said that all of their players and family members are safe and accounted for after the shooting.
