NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is one of the most trusted draft analysts in football.
Last week during the NFL Combine, he met with Browns radio color analyst Nathan Zegura to discuss the draft in more detail, highlighting some of the best position groups, the QB situation at the top of the draft and then what the Browns could look to due next month.
In line with some of the stories released this past week week about guys to keep an eye on for Cleveland, Jeremiah mentioned several of the same names when discussing the Browns defensive line and the wide receiver pursuits.
When asked specifically about the Day 2 wide receivers, Jeremiah called out a specific set of names.
“Ladd McConkey from Georgia is really fun. He knows how to run routes, separate and get open. He does some things after the catch that kind of surprise you. Malachia Corley out of Western Kentucky is just a run-after catch machine… Between Troy Franklin at Oregon and Adonai Mitchell from Texas are top day 2 guys.”
He would go on to call out a handful of other guys but would finish by saying, “If you’re Cleveland and you want a wide receiver it is your year and you’re going to get one.”
That should be music to the ears of Browns fans, who will also love the fact that there are several guys out there that can fit this offense in different ways. If you want straight burners on the outside, there will be a handful of those. If you want more slot types there will be a handful of those guys, too.
In a year with an extremely deep wide receiver class coming to the league, Cleveland will have its pick of the litter. This is a great year to need a wide receiver.
