Lаtest news һіnts Jets mаy аttemрt to solve WR woes іn 2024 NFL Drаft

After missing out on talented wide receivers in free agency, the New York Jets may turn to the NFL Draft to upgrade their receiving corps.

Per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, Washington WR Rome Odunze has a top-30 visit with the Jets on Wednesday. New York has the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is within range to take the 21-year-old.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported the Jets were interested in former first-round pick Jerry Jeudy (Browns) and six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen (Bears) before the WRs were traded.

New York signed former Chargers star WR Mike Williams to a one-year, $10M deal in free agency, but he has durability issues. Last season, he suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings and hasn’t played an entire season since 2018, per CBS Sports.

Aside from budding star Garrett Wilson, no Jets WR surpassed 400 receiving yards last season, and none had more than one TD catch. New York should clearly consider drafting another pass-catcher.

Odunze would be an excellent target. In 15 games last season, he led the FBS in receiving yards (1,640), tied for sixth in receiving TDs (14) and tied for sixth in receptions (92). NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah rates him as the third-best prospect in the draft class and compares him to a future Hall of Famer.

“He plays with a ton of passion and energy,” Jeremiah wrote of the 6-foot-3, 212-pounder. “Overall, Odunze is a complete player and reminds me of [former Arizona Cardinals WR and 11-time Pro Bowler] Larry Fitzgerald coming out of college.”

2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Wilson and Odunze may form an exciting combination that would make life easier for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Last season, the 40-year-old tore his Achilles in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, missing the entire season. He needs reliable wideouts to flourish in 2024.
