Kirk Cousins reportedly ahead of schedule in Achilles rehab

It’s been just about three months since Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in Green Bay on October 29th. The return timetable can be anywhere from 6-12 months, but it sounds like Cousins is doing quite well ahead of a fascinating free agency decision.

Kirk Cousins reportedly ahead of schedule in Achilles rehab

“I’m told he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from the Achilles,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. “He’s actually going to be throwing before the combine next month. So everything tracking in a good direction for Kirk Cousins to be fully ready to roll for the Vikings — or whoever he might be with — in 2024.”

Cousins has previously said his goal is to be ready to practice for OTAs in May. That would be more than six months after the injury. Knowing how well Cousins has always taken care of his body, he should be able to make a smooth and quick recovery from this injury, even with his 36th birthday coming up in August.

The big question, of course, is which jersey he’ll be wearing during OTA practices. Cousins is arguably the top free agent in the entire league, and he’ll have no shortage of suitors in March. He has said he wants to return to the Vikings (and the Vikings have said they want him back), but it’ll all come down to the price tag and structure of his next contract.

Meanwhile, Cousins is spending his offseason doing things like spontaneously popping into a sports communication class at Hope College in his hometown of Holland, Michigan.
