Houston Texans Trade for ‘Controversial’ Stefon Diggs: Are Ex Bills WR’s Critics Wrong?

Is the Houston wide receiver misunderstood?

Texans unveil Stefon Diggs' new jersey number

Much has been made about Stefon Diggs finding himself unhappy in both Minnesota and Buffalo, but ESPN’s Dan Graziano dispelled the narrative that Diggs – just traded to the Houston Texans – was a disruptive presence in the Bills’ locker room.

“In spite of anything he might have said on social media, and any conversations he might have had with the coaches and storming out of minicamp and all that kind of stuff, Diggs was not a disruptive locker room presence,” Graziano said of Diggs, via ABC13.com.” He would make it clear to the coaching staff that he’d like to do more, but he was not a problem with teammates or anything like that. So I think those concerns if Texans fans have them, are probably a little overblown.”

Diggs and Bills quarterback Josh Allen – despite the undeniable drama – were a dynamic duo. Despite spurts of frustration, few were more dangerous than the pairing. Diggs spent four seasons in Buffalo, catching 445 for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns. Buffalo were a Super Bowl threat but couldn’t get over the hump. The Kansas City Chiefs ousted the Bills from the postseason in three of Diggs’ four seasons, with the other loss suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals. As they might for any player, frequent shortcomings grew frustrating for Diggs.

Prior, Diggs spent five seasons in Minnesota. The Vikings made the NFL Playoffs in three of those seasons. The most notable moment was when he pulled off the “Minneapolis Miracle” to stun the New Orleans Saints. Diggs finished his time in Minnesota with 365 catches for 4,623 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Now Diggs relocates to Houston and joins an offense that could produce fireworks with C.J. Stroud at quarterback. Diggs is still one of the best receivers in the league and is fresh off a season where he caught 107 passes for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. … with the hope that the “fireworks” are about production more than emotion.
