Derrick Henry was interested in the Cowboys, but they never called

Running back Derrick Henry was one of the premier free agents of this NFL offseason and he ended up in a position where he should be competing to play in a Super Bowl.

Henry was interested in the Cowboys, but they never called

There’s a strong argument to be made that Henry is the missing piece alongside Lamar Jackson for the Baltimore Ravens’ offense.

Henry and the Ravens could be a match made in NFL heaven, but it turns out that there was another team he was interested in before Baltimore as well.

Henry lives and trains in the Dallas area during the offseason and it sounds like there could have been mutual interest between him and the Cowboys.

The big running back revealed that Jerry Jones and Co. never ended up reaching out to him, though. Thus, he’s now a Raven.

“The Cowboys never called at all,” Henry recently said. “That’s where I stay in the offseason. I’m kind of on the back end of my career and that’s a great organization. It would’ve been a great opportunity, but I’m thankful that I ended up here in Baltimore.”

Dallas has had a slow start to free agency this offseason and even more troubling for Cowboys fans has to be the fact that as of right now, there’s not a RB1 on the team.

Ezekiel Elliott is now two years removed from being a Cowboy and the player Dallas tapped on the shoulder to replace him last season, Tony Pollard, just agreed to a new deal with the Tennessee Titans.

As of now, Dallas’ running back room looks like Deuce Vaughn (23 carries, 40 yards last season), Malik Davis (no carries last season) and Snoop Cooner (no carries last season).

Not great, Bob. Not great.
