The Green Bay Packers moved on from Davante Adams two off-seasons ago. At the time is was a shocking move, however, after the dust settled it was pretty obvious that Adams was done with the Packers. He was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for multiple premium draft picks.
The Raiders haven’t had the success they would have hoped since the trade. They’ve missed the playoffs both year Adams has been there and have even gone through a major quarterback change. Now the Raiders are bringing in a former Packers coach in an attempt to get back on track offensively.
Davante Adams Talks Reuniting With Former Green Bay Packers Coach
With Antonio Pierce as head coach and Tom Telesco as general manager, the Las Vegas Raiders are excited about the upcoming season. It was Pierce’s first major move to hire former Bears and Packers offensive coordinator Luke Getsy as their own offensive coordinator. a move that was well received by one Raider.
Davante Adams worked with Getsy for seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, and he says he is “really excited” to work with him again:
“That was a good feeling knowing a guy that I’ve worked with,” Adams said, via ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez . “I know how he works, I know how his mind works and we’ve had success together. So it’s definitely exciting.”
“He’s going to be open to hearing things from the veteran players that know how this thing works and the best way to do things,” Adams said. “So a lot of different things, but just the open-mindedness and, like I said, that innovation to the offense and a good run-pass balance. And that’s what I’m used to, that West Coast style. Gonna be fun, getting to work on a new system, something that’s a little bit more familiar for us. Me and the guys.”
Although there are uncertainties surrounding Getsy’s appointment, key Raiders figures, including Antonio Pierce and Meyers, are confident about the team’s prospects.
Coach Pierce and the Raiders are eager to embrace Getsy’s leadership as they prepare for their 2024 season.
