The Philadelphia Eagles made NFL history in the worst way in 2023, becoming the first team to start 10-1 and go on to lose six of their final seven contests since the 1986 New York Jets.
One reason was because of the coaching staff, which is why the Eagles hired new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
The other reason was because of the players.
But if you ask Eagles’ running back D’Andre Swift, the players were the main reason for the collapse.
Swift joined Micah Parson’s podcast where he was brutally honest about what happened last year.
“It’s tough, it’s tough,” Swift said. “Later in the year, people start playing their best ball later in the year. It come down to we didn’t make enough plays, that’s how I feel. We didn’t make enough plays. People might say play-calling, coaching, whatever it is may be. But end of the day, we out there, we gotta make it happen. Whatever might get called, players gotta execute. It comes down to execution. That’s what I feel like we really didn’t do a good enough job of. From top to bottom, we just didn’t make enough plays.”

The Eagles are now two seasons removed from their Super Bowl run in 2022. That’s the track they want to get back on, but it takes two to tango.
