Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Hopeful For NFL Rules Change

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is on board with a notable NFL rules change.

The Super Bowl-winning head coach said during the league’s owners meetings in Florida that he hopes the new kickoff rule proposal passes.

The new kickoff would have players lining up just five yards apart, in an attempt to reduce injuries and increase excitement. The rules proposal needs 24 “yes” votes in order to pass.

Reid is hoping that it does.

“It’s going to be interesting and exciting, if it passes. I like the idea. I’m for it,” Reid said.

The new kickoff rule has been tried in the XFL. It’s brought more excitement to the kickoff and helped reduce injuries, both of which would be beneficial to the National Football League.

The kickoff used to be a really exciting play in the NFL, but in recent years, it’s felt like it’s just been a touchback the vast majority of the time.

The NFL either needs to get rid of the play entirely, or do something to change it. It sounds like the league is on board with attempting to do something to change it.

What do you think of the NFL’s new kickoff rule proposal?
