There is no sure word yet, but one Cleveland Browns player may have spoiled a big announcement by the NFL.
The NFL will hold its first game in Brazil to kick off the 2024 season on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. It was made known in February that the Philadelphia Eagles would be the acting home team. That automatically made the Browns a candidate since they play the Eagles on the road in 2024.
Maurice Hurst appeared on an airing of Cleveland Browns Daily and said that the team is going to Brazil in 2024, as you’ll see in the video below.
RUMOR: #Browns DT Maurice Hurst II accidentally let it slip that they are playing in Brazil this year.
Since the Eagles are hosting the ONLY Brazil game in week 1 next season, we may see an Eagles vs Browns season opener.

Hurst shared his reaction to X following the realization that he just leaked big news that hadn’t been made official yet.

Later, the Browns’ defensive tackle retracted his statement and said he did not have confirmation.
I have 0 confirmation that we’ll be playing in Brazil, just excited at the possibility of being one of the first teams to do so! Would be happy lining up with this team anywhere!!

As mentioned, the NFL has not yet announced the opponent for the Eagles but if Hurst is saying it, perhaps he knows something. There has not been a game on Friday to kick off the season since 1970 and with this one being an international game it makes it an even bigger deal.
Hurst was recently re-signed to a one year deal and looks eager to get out there with his teammates after suffering a season-ending injury in 2023.
We’ll see if an official announcement comes from the NFL soon and that’ll be the final say on if Browns fans need to get ready to make a big trip.
