Browns new weapon Jerry Jeudy may have landed in the best place for his career path

Cleveland Browns made a big move out of nowhere yesterday just days ahead of NFL Free Agency.

Trading for WR Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos gave Cleveland a legit second wideout on their depth chart and a very good route runner.

Browns new weapon Jerry Jeudy may have landed in the best place for his career path

Landing in Cleveland, Jeudy just may have landed in the most ideal spot for his career. Coming to Cleveland, he will be paired with someone he looked up to before the NFL Draft and someone who has had an impact on him.

New Browns WR Jerry Jeudy looked up to fellow South Florida native Amari Cooper coming up, Cooper was a reason why Jeudy went to Bama, and Jeudy has patterned his game after Cooper’s. Add that to the contract-year dynamic, and the Browns are well-positioned to maximize Jeudy.

Jeudy looked up to Cooper when he played at Alabama and it was part of the reason he ended up with the Crimson Tide. Jeudy played at Alabama from 2017-2019 and had over 2,500 receiving yards in his final two seasons with the Crimson.

Since landing in the NFL, Jeudy has not been able to put together WR1 production after being selected No. 15 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. His best season came in 2022 when he had 972 yards. Having been in the league for four seasons, there is a chance that Jeudy’s best ball is ahead of him.

With Cleveland, there will be no pressure of Jeudy rising up and being the No. 1 guy like there was in Denver when he played with Courtland Sutton, who is a good player but he’s not Cooper. That and the past connection of where Jeudy and Cooper both come from should make building chemistry that much easier.

Jeudy isn’t 25 years old yet and the Browns gave up a fifth and sixth-round pick to get him. Even if he is just a solid No. 2 option and that’s all he ever is, it is a good deal.
