The Tampa Bay Buccaneers — led by Tom Brady — defeated the Kansas City Chiefs to become Super Bowl Champions. It was a 31-9 victory for the Buccaneers, showing Brady was still capable of dominating on the biggest stage while the team’s defense absolutely showed out, slowing down a powerhouse of an offense led by Patrick Mahomes.

While the Buccaneers haven’t since been back to the Super Bowl, the Chiefs won a Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, the Chiefs are headed right back to the Super Bowl for a matchup.

“It’s tough to get to the Super Bowl, period,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on the Let’s Go! podcast. “And then to be able to back to back it… you taught us part of that lesson.”

While the Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl, they’re getting a 2019 rematch against the San Francisco 49ers, and Reid cited Brady as being a part of their understanding of how to get back to that point.

“Not only as a player with the Patriots but also you kicked our tail at Tampa Bay and there’s a certain attitude and toughness that you’ve got to come into each game with and you presented that to us down there,” Reid continued. “It was a good learning experience for our guys.”

Brady tossed for 201 passing yards and three touchdowns in his final chance to play in a Super Bowl, winning his seventh ring. He wouldn’t again play in the Super Bowl before retiring in 2022, unretiring and re-retiring in 2023.

Now, the Buccaneers are completely in a new era while the Chiefs are continuing to thrive under the guidance of Mahomes.

This season, the Buccaneers made the NFC Divisional Round where they eventually lost to the Detroit Lions. They now have a future full of uncertainty as they try to work their way back to the pinnacle of the NFL.
