Aаron Rodgers’ NFL bonus for lаst seаson іs so smаll іt seems lіke а joke

Aaron Rodgers’ first season with the New York Jets was over before it even began, as the veteran quarterback suffered a torn Achilles just minutes into his Week 1 debut

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers got a tiny bonus for his performance last season which barely covers the cost of filling up his car with petrol. The NFL’s wage system gives extra money to players who play more often.

But Rodgers, who hurt his Achilles in his first game with the Jets and missed the whole season, barely saw the field at all. He got just $81.14 (£60) for his minuscule amount of action.

ESPN says this is the smallest amount given to a player through the NFL program. With petrol prices in New Jersey around $3.27 (£2.43) per gallon, Rodgers will hardly have enough to fill up his Ford F-150.

Other Jets players did better. John Simpson, an offensive lineman, got the biggest bonus last season – $974,613 (£723,000). Safety Tony Adams got the 16th highest bonus at $777,965 (£577,000).

The New York Jets, who ended the 2023 season with a less than impressive 7-10 record, are geared up for a better performance in 2024.

The team, which holds the longest playoff drought (13 seasons) in North American sports, has added some heavy hitters.

They’ve enlisted big target wide receiver Mike Williams and built a stronger offensive line by signing Simpson, Morgan Moses and All-Pro Tyron Smith.

However, it’s crucial for the Jets’ success this year that Aaron Rodgers gets back in form. Rodgers seems confident though, hinting at staying with the Jets for a while.

“I’m hopeful I can play two or three or four more years, but you need to have some good fortune in there too,” said Rodgers last month on the “Look Into It” podcast with Eddie Bravo. He opened up about his challenges saying, “I learned a lot about resilience and dealing with adversity this year.”
