A belief stands that Browns’ Nick Chubb’s days are coming to a close with the team

One NFL reporter believes that a Cleveland Browns fan favorite could soon be on his way out.

ESPN has labeled Nick Chubb as a potential cap casualty soon after coming off of another significant knee injury.

Chubb is scheduled to make $12 million in 2024 and that is indeed a high number for a player coming off of a major injury.

A belief stands that Browns’ Nick Chubb’s days are coming to a close with the team

At 28 years old, Chubb isn’t getting any younger and he is in the final year of his deal. It is a tough spot for the Browns with one of their most important players over the last few years.

What the Browns should do with Nick Chubb?
Chubb isn’t playing in Cleveland for $12 million in 2024, it just is not happening. A steep price to pay for a player that could have a ticking time bomb of a knee now.

Cleveland should attempt to rework the contract and add a year on. They can extend him while lowering the amount on the salary for the 2024 season. If Chubb goes with that, he is a no-doubter to be on the team in 2024.

In fact, the only way that Chubb isn’t on the team next season is if he doesn’t want to rework his contract. Those conversations have likely already started, or else they will soon.

When Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt took over for Chubb, the team lost a step as expected.

Before playing just two games in 2023, Chubb had four straight seasons of 1,000 yards rushing and 996 as a rookie. He’s been the best pure runner since entering the league as a second-round pick in 2018.

Chubb has been a quiet guy who goes to work and everyone loves him. Cleveland fans can be added to the list of people who want him to stick around. If it all works out he should be around another season at least, but the option is there to cut him if it comes to it.
