Jerry Jones ‘confident’ about Dak Prescott ending Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought

It’s hard to predict what Jerry Jones ‘ next move will be regarding Dak Prescott . The 30-year-old’s contract will end after the 2024 season, with a possible cap hit of $55.455 million.

There’s a growing idea that Jones will eventually let Dak Prescott see out his contract and then cut ties because they do not have the leverage of franchise tagging for the second time. On the other hand, the veteran Dallas Cowboys owner keeps hinting that he has faith in the three-time Pro Bowler.

Since entering the NFL in 2016, Prescott has proved to be one of the best regular-season quarterbacks. However, his luck runs out in the playoffs. With just 2 wins from 7 games, he hasn’t set an example for the Cowboys nation to put their faith in his hands.

Jones, however, remains convinced that Dak Prescott is the answer to their three-decades-long Super Bowl problem. On Sunday, Dallas Morning News’ David Moore tried his best to find out from the 81-year-old about his plans for Prescott. Jerry Jones claimed the new father is one of the few who are capable of winning the Super Bowl.

I think there are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven’t won a Super Bowl who will win a Super Bowl. Dak is one of them. I’m firm there. He’s one of the ones who can. Jones told Moore

It coincides with his previous statement about sticking with his current quarterback.

We will go as far as Dak takes us, and that is how far we went. So my point is, that doesn’t change a thing. We’ll go as far as Dak takes u s. Following the wild card exit at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, Jones had said

Jerry Jones continues to face criticism for the Cowboys’ slow free agency movement.

After announcing to be ‘all in‘ to fix several key areas on the roster, the Cowboys have mostly seen notable departures instead of arrivals. Dorance Armstrong and Tyler Biadasz joined the Washington Commanders, Tyron Smith signed with the New York Jets, while Tony Pollard agreed to a three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans.

The only big-name addition from Jones was linebacker Eric Kendricks from the Los Angeles Chargers. Moreover, the Cowboys resigned Rico Dowdle, Jordan Lewis, and C.J. Goodwin . Dowdle will most likely take over the running back job now that Pollard is no longer with the team.

Dallas fans were hoping to see the Cowboys add Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry, but they went to Philadelphia and Baltimore. Former Colts RB Zack Moss revealed that he received an offer from the Cowboys, but they weren’t willing to pay his desired salary.
