The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need some starting-level answers for their offensive line, but in the meantime, a little depth can’t hurt — which is where Justin Skule comes in.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine reported on Friday that the Bucs are bringing Skule back to the team. The specifics of the deal aren’t currently known, but Skule should come very cheap given his role in the offense last season.

Skule is primarily a swing tackle — that is, a backup tackle that can play on either the left or the right side. He was also (scarcely) featured in certain packages last year as a blocking tight end, playing 19 total snaps on offense. Skule also played 65 snaps on special teams, making him somewhat versatile in that regard.

Skule is the second lineman the Bucs secured on Friday. The team also signed former New York Giants guard Ben Bredeson to the team on a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million, which could be another depth move after the departure of Nick Leverett to the New England Patriots earlier in free agency.

The signing is yet another instance of the Bucs bringing back previous talent. The team has only brought in three players from outside the squad, and one of those, safety Jordan Whitehead, has played in Tampa Bay before.
