Packers re-sign CB Corey Ballentine and TE Tyler Davis

Two key special-teams players stay with Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers have re-signed CB Corey Ballentine and TE Tyler Davis. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Tuesday.

(BAL-en-tine) Ballentine has been on the Packers’ practice squad and active roster over the past two seasons. He appeared in the final eight games for Green Bay in 2022 and played in a career-best 14 games with a career-high six starts this past season while also appearing in both postseason contests. In 2023, Ballentine set career highs in tackles (39), solo tackles (27), passes defensed (seven) and registered his first career interception. Ballentine was originally selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round (No. 180 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Washburn University in Kansas. He has played for the Giants (2019-20), New York Jets (2020) and Detroit Lions (2021) and also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals.

Davis (6-4, 252), a fifth-year player out of Georgia Tech, signed with the Packers off the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad on Sept. 28, 2021. He missed all of last season due to a knee injury. From 2021-22, Davis played in 31 regular-season games with one start and appeared in one postseason contest for Green Bay. He was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round (No. 206 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. Davis played in eight games as a rookie for the Jaguars. After being released by Jacksonville following the 2021 training camp, he was signed to the Colts’ practice squad on Sept. 3. In his first three seasons in the NFL, Davis registered eight receptions for 61 yards (7.6 avg.) and posted 15 tackles on special teams.
