Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic draws legendary LeBron James comparison

Later today, the Dallas Mavericks will look to grab their fourth-straight win against the Golden State Warriors at the American Airlines Center.

The Mavs are coming off a dominant win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, with Dallas’ bigs leading the charge. Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II combined for 42 points in the win, and Gafford continues to inch closer to breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 35 consecutive field goals made without a miss.

Luka Doncic also dominated in this game, as he finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists, but his 30-point triple-double streak ended as he was three points shy. After the game, head coach Jason Kidd said they wanted to give Doncic a few tries to continue the streak, but eventually opted to sub him out as the game was out of reach.

Doncic was fine with that according to Kidd, as he is focused on winning, and he nabbed a legendary comparison to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James earlier this week.

“Right now, Luka Doncic is a younger version of LeBron James, minus the athleticism,” NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins said on SportsCenter. “The way that he can score the basketball right, leading the league in scoring. But it’s the other areas for me.”

Perkins continued, complimenting Doncic’s rebounding and ability to make his teammates better. He also said that Doncic is the “most dangerous player and the scariest player in the Western Conference” other than Nikola Jokic.

Being compared to James is a massive accomplishment for the young Doncic, and the resemblance is there. The way that Doncic controls the game, facilitates, and scores is something that Mavs fans have never seen before, and he has the potential to go down as an all-time great just like LeBron.

LeBron is someone who Luka looked up to growing up, and the Lakers could be a team that the Mavs end up playing in the Play-In Tournament depending on how both teams finish up the season. James always seems to give Luka his flowers, and maybe this star duo could even team up before James retires.

For all the latest on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
