According to the 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov, the Steelers’ deal with Johnston is for three years, worth $9 million. At 32 years old, he comes to Pittsburgh as the replacement for Pressley Harvin and will look to solidify the position for multiple seasons.

The Steelers released Harvin at the beginning of the offseason after three seasons. The former seventh-round pick averaged just 43.7 yards per punt to start his NFL career.

Johnston comes to Pittsburgh after three years with the Texans and three years with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to that. Last season, he tied third in the NFL for punts inside the 20-yard line with 30. He holds a career average of 47.3 yards per punt.

The Steelers came into the week with roughly $28 million in available cap space. So far, they’ve agreed to terms with Johnston and quarterback Russell Wilson.
