Patriots Combine Report: ‘Comfortable’ With Top Signal-Callers

It seems that should the New England Patriots look to address the position in the 2024 Draft, the organization is comfortable with where they are with scouting the league’s top quarterback rookie class.

Patriots Combine Report: 'Comfortable' With Top Signal-Callers

ESPN’s Dan Graziano made it clear that while there were some rumors that the organization would trade out of the third overall pick, those thoughts have changed.

“There’s a lot of speculation about what the Patriots will do with the No. 3 pick,” the NFL reporter stated. “…The sense seemed to be the Pats would stay put and take one of the top three quarterbacks.”

The current 2024 quarterback class consists of USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Daniels and Williams are Heisman Trophy-winning signal-callers while Maye has stood out in interviews and is expected to have plenty of upside in the role. Each quarterback has interviewed with the Patriots during the 2024 Scouting Combine.

New England has plenty of needs outside of the quarterback position, but free agency could dictate their decisions on Draft night. The Patriots will have over $90 million in cap space according to Spotrac – a sign that the team could address several positions of need in free agency like the offensive line, receiving room, and secondary.

The Patriots are reportedly looking to pair a rookie quarterback with a veteran in 2024, as well.

And adding one of the best quarterback prospects might be exactly what the organization may want to do to kick off this new era.
