ESPN makes wild starting QB prediction for Minnesota Vikings

ESPN made a starting quarterback prediction for the Minnesota Vikings this week that would definitely rock the NFL.

Seth Walder, an analytics specialist for ESPN, predicted this week that instead of Kirk Cousins taking the starting snaps for the Vikings in 2024, it will be Russell Wilson who is Minnesota’s starter this fall.

Walder also thinks that the Vikings could draft Oregon’s Bo Nix to solidify the quarterback position.

Cousins will be a free agent this offseason after spending the last six seasons with the Vikings.

From ESPN: Let’s call this Wilson plus Oregon’s Bo Nix. Cousins might end up back in Minnesota, but I could see the Vikings balking at giving him a multiyear guaranteed contract. If he’s out of the picture, Wilson is probably the next-best short-term solution. (I’m assuming the Bears wouldn’t deal Justin Fields inside their division.) But don’t be surprised if the Vikings go after multiple players to fill Cousins’ void. If they do, acquiring Wilson and drafting a QB at No. 12 makes the most sense.

The Denver Broncos are expected to release Wilson at some point this offseason.

Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion, is coming off two rough seasons in Denver. And while Wilson shares some of the blame for those two rough seasons, it shouldn’t be ignored that he landed in two less-than-ideal situations — with a coach in Nathaniel Hackett in 2022 that had no business being a head coach and a coach in Sean Payton in 2023 that never saw eye-to-eye with Wilson.

Perhaps a fresh start in Minnesota is all Wilson, who is 35, needs to rejuvenate his career.
