Cleveland Browns: Analyst Makes Interesting Suggestion on Wild Nick Chubb Cut Rumors

It will sound surprising to some, but the Cleveland Browns are having a tough time when it comes to their plans for Nick Chubb. The talented running back was an unstoppable force, but a gruesome injury had the team questioning whether he was still the right rusher for the team.

As rumors of Chubb’s potential departure from the team sparked outrage among Browns fans, some voices tried to make sense of the situation, providing avenues that would allow the team to remain productive on the run if they ever decide to move on from their star running back.

Ari Meirov suggests Cleveland Browns would either sign him to a more reasonable extension or move on
NFL insider Ari Meirov reported that the Cleveland Browns have two viable options for the Georgia product. The team would either move on from him to save on their salary cap or provide him an extension on lower guaranteed money.

Meirov explains that it would make sense for the Cleveland Browns to try and move on from him as the $11 million Chubb is due next year isn’t guaranteed. If they feel the multiple surgeries he went through would greatly impact his run game, it would make sense for the team to ship him off to another team that’s more willing to take the risk.

However, the team has stated their commitment to Chubb and would likely look to ink a more team-friendly deal than let him go. Given the nature of the injuries he endured, it would make sense for all parties to reduce his expected wages so they can focus on more important things.

Any team would love to have a runner like Nichk Chubb on their team. In his last two full seasons, he finished with more than 1200 rushing yards and 8 rushing TDs. He will be an impact player regardless of whether he plays for the Cleveland Browns or not next season.
