Russell Wilson accepting offers to sell his $25 million Denver mansion indicates his time with the Broncos is ‘over’

The NFL off-season is getting heated. With nearly a month left for free agency, there are many rumors regarding potential blockbuster trades and signings. In that trend, there are rumors that the Denver Broncos are going to part ways with their expensive quarterback Russell Wilson. And now, Wilson’s new move has ignited the rumors and speculations.

Russell Wilson accepting offers to sell his $25 million Denver mansion indicates his time with the Broncos is ‘over’

According to a new report from BusinessDen , the Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara Wilson are now “accepting offers” on their Denver mansion, which they brought back in 2022 for a whopping $25 million. Wilson hasn’t addressed the reports yet.

Russell Wilson’s 2023 season with the Broncos started and ended in a shaky way. Following a poor start, Wilson managed to find his rhythm and bounced back nicely. He registered 3,070 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns while completing 66.4 % of his pass attempts.

However, in the end, Wilson’s season ended in a nightmare after he was controversially benched by head coach Sean Payton during the last two games. Wilson had a clause on his contract that would’ve guaranteed him $37 million if he had gotten hurt during those games. So, the Broncos benched him in favor of Jarrett Stidham to close out their season despite having a shot at the playoffs.

Later, Wilson clarified in a locker room interview that the Broncos told him that if he didn’t change his contract he would be benched for another quarterback. Denver’s handling of the matter was heavily criticized by many people.

Yeah, we beat the Chiefs, they came up to me during the bye week, beginning of the bye week, Monday or Tuesday, and they told me that if I didn’t change my contract, my injury guarantee, that I’d be benched for the rest of the year. Russell Wilson told the reporters
Nonetheless, Wilson didn’t change his contract, and he would still get $37 million guaranteed money if he didn’t get cut by the Broncos before March 17. So, the Broncos are expected to release him before that if they can’t find a good trade partner.

Russell Wilson potential landing spots
The Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has one of the most expensive contracts in the league. So, it would be impossible for the Denver-based football team to find a good trade partner for him.

Still, the Broncos are expected to move on from the 35-year-old quarterback before March 17. But, the story is not over for Wilson yet.

According to multiple reports, several teams still see Wilson as a legitimate starting quarterback in the league. Insiders believe many teams including the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings could make a run for the QB.

However, currently, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorites to land Wilson. The Steelers could rope in Wilson and make him a mentor for their former first-round pick Kenny Pickett.
