Eagles’ Star Pass Rusher Sounds Off On Trade Rumors

A recent report surfaced that Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick asked for a trade and was being accommodated, but it turns out that may have never actually happened.

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz says he spoke with Reddick and discovered that the star pass rusher never actually requested to be dealt.

“I would like to get an extension done here at home,” Reddick said. “At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded.”

Reddick signed with the Eagles in March 2022.

His debut campaign in Philadelphia has represented his best season to date, as he racked up 49 tackles, 16 sacks, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. In addition, he earned a Second-Team All-Pro selection and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

The 29-year-old then followed that up by registering 38 tackles and 11 sacks this past season, notching his second straight Pro Bowl nod.

However, most of Reddick’s damage in 2023 came during the first half of the year, as he logged just 2.5 sacks over his final seven games. That certainly fit the theme of the Eagles this season, as Philadelphia started out 10-1 and then lost five of its last six regular-season contests before bowing out to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Reddick, who played his collegiate football at Temple, was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four years of his career with the Cardinals and then one season with the Carolina Panthers before joining Philly.

We’ll see if the Eagles do try and get something done with Reddick this offseason.
